The Village Disaster Management Plan (VDMP) project, supported by OSDMA, has been implemented since 2019 to build disaster resilience and preparedness in vulnerable rural communities. With a budget of ₹3.5 lakh, the project focuses on strengthening the capacity of farmers and villagers in Basta Block, Balasore district. Covering 70 villages, the initiative aims to minimize disaster risks by promoting early warning awareness, community preparedness, and quick response mechanisms. Under this project, SPARSHA facilitates the formation of Village Disaster Management Committees (VDMCs) and trains them on planning, rescue measures, and coordination during natural calamities such as floods, cyclones, and storms. The project empowers communities to identify risks, plan mitigation strategies, and adopt safer practices. Through continuous awareness programs and community-driven planning, the initiative enhances safety, resilience, and disaster readiness at the village level.
